Facebook

WHOA – a Facebook page right INSIDE MY WEBSITE?

You bet – and its easy! Details after the Facebook feed. Are you a Twitter for Restaurants Fan yet? This is what we like to chat about around here:

How to add your Facebook Fan Page feed to a web page

Collect new fans that found your website before they found you on Facebook. Fans can check out your posts and click on any link to go to your Fan Page. At this writing there seems to be opportunity for making commenting available in the feed, or at least a one-click to the Fan Page, but we’ll just let Facebook do what it does :)

STEP 1

First, go to the Facebook Fan Page you want to integrate into your website. Hover your mouse over your profile picture. Right Click (PC) or Control Click (Mac), then click the “View Image Info” option. (This option might also be named “Properties”.) Either way, click the link to prompt a pop up window revealing your Fan Page’s ID number in the URL. Don’t worry, your Facebook ID number is no secret and isn’t a privacy concern. It only tells browsers where to look for images on the Facebook server.

STEP 2

Second, go to the Facebook Developer’s portal located in this link to enter your ID # and get your Like Box code. On this page you’ll also enter your desired box width (should fit nicely into your page (not too wide – for reference TwitterForRestos is 600 pixels), number of fan faces to populate, and whether you want to show your Facebook post stream (YES) or header text (up to you, but why not).

STEP 4

Copy and paste that code into the web page you would like it to appear in. You might need your web geek to do this for you, or if you have a WordPress website, simply create a new page, name it Facebook (or whatever you like) and drop the generated code into the page body.

Save. Wahlah!
